Indians and African Americans

Indians and Blacks...huge cultural differences. Indians would prefer not to mix with other races. I know thats a generalization, but true. That being said, if it does occur, mixing with a "Black" would be the worst. Why? For the same reason whites/asians would prefer not to mix with "Blacks." Racism and other's perceived notions.

Africans and Indians share a lot of history, much of which has been ignored. Indians brought to Africa to work under slave conditions. Africans brought to Europe/America as slaves. The main difference, which many people feel if unimportant...Africans shipped abroad were stripped of their culture,religion, and past acomplishments. Indians were able to maintain theirs. Which is something to be proud of. Blacks today are still viewed as Ex-slaves to many. i.e. the multitude of posts basically stating their inferiority.

In the US, segregation was ONLY 40 years ago, much less than a lifetime. Many cultures, especially one as strong and proud and the Indian culture would prefer that their sons and daughters not be with such an oppressed culture as the Black disapora. Although sad, its understandable. Many Indians have travelled and incurred hardships/racisim to get to lands of opportunity and why subject themselves to more by being with a race who has even more hardship.

Blacks/Latinos/Indians are special people in that they come in such varied shades and hues. Rather beautiful. Prior to being compared to the White example of perceived perfection, skin color was like height, just another unique charm an individual has. Now, being "Dark" is shameful. Especially when you're in a "foreign" country and trying to make it better for your family. And please don't post about wasted opportunity in the US. Truly the opportunity has only been there for appoximately 30 years. It took a lot of blood to get to this point. The majority of Indians on the mainland of US are only one generation old...so they missed most of the struggle, which is unfortunate.

I know if we were marching now for the right to vote, eat at countertops, ride in the front of buses or any other basic human right, Indians would be right there with the Blacks. Don't play into the hands of "our" skin is lighter than yours. We don't waste opportunity etc. Its shameful to both of our cultures similar struggles.
